On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Alfred Duma Local Municipality Honourable Mayor, Cllr ZJ Sibisi, visited the Dalikosini community in Ward 30 under the leadership of Cllr ZI Madondo. The Mayor was accompanied by Cllr TP Dlamini, Cllr S Msimango Induna Sithole, municipal officials during the visit to officiate the handover of the Dalikosini Pedestrian Bridge.

In his address, the Mayor applauded the Ward 30 community for their unity and commended the ward councillor for being a dedicated leader who prioritises the needs of the people. This initiative forms part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to service delivery and infrastructure development across all wards within the jurisdiction of the Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the ward councillor for continuously engaging with community members and addressing their concerns. The newly constructed bridge responds to a critical community need, as residents previously faced challenges during adverse weather conditions, particularly school children who struggled to travel safely to and from school.

The Mayor encouraged community members to prioritise safety when using the bridge and emphasised that it will greatly improve accessibility for learners and residents alike. He further announced that the Mnangeni Road construction project is scheduled to commence this year, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to improving local infrastructure.

In promoting self-help and self-reliance, the Mayor urged community members—especially women—to establish community gardens, assuring them that the municipality will provide fencing materials and seeds to support these initiatives. He also highlighted that the municipality continues to implement various projects, including the construction of access roads to enhance connectivity and mobility within communities.

The Mayor concluded by urging residents to take care of their infrastructure and work together to preserve the developments brought to their communities.
