Senior Citizens Compete for Place in Msukaligwa Team
Senior citizens from across Msukaligwa Local Municipality gathered at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, to participate in the regional Active Ageing Programme, also known as the Golden Games.
Co-hosted by Msukaligwa Local Municipality and the Department of Social Development through the Active Ageing Programme, the games formed part of the selection process for the team that will represent Msukaligwa at the Gert Sibande District Games.
Participants competed in various sporting activities, including jukskei and track running, among others, as they sought selection to the district team.
Representing the Executive Mayor, Cllr S.E. Ngovene attended the games and delivered words of encouragement to participants, while extending well wishes to those who will go on to represent Msukaligwa at district level.
The event also brought together various stakeholders providing services and information to senior citizens.
The Department of Health mobile unit was on site to provide free health checks and screening, alongside other stakeholders offering relevant services.
