The proposed electricity tariff changes for 2026/27 aim to simplify the tariff structure by moving Tariff A residential customers to a single, flat kilowatt hour rate, replacing the stepped pricing model. Other tariff structural changes are outlined in the presentation. The proposed average increase of 9.01% is in line with NERSA guidelines and national approvals . These changes are intended to ensure clarity, fairness, and the long term financial sustainability of the City’s electricity services.
Public Consultation Meetings
Public consultation meetings will take place from 27 March 2026 to 31 March 2026 and will be conducted through a combination of virtual and in person engagements , as per the published schedule.
