OPERATION THUNTSHA LEROLE GETS OFF TO A FIRM START

Mogale City launched Operation Thuntsha Lerole to enforce municipal by-laws by demolishing unlawful trading structures along Jacobs Street in Chamdor. Executive Mayor Lucky Sele led the operation, which targets traders operating without required permits. Residents wishing to trade informally must apply for permits through the LED Department and comply with public health and safety regulations.

NATIONAL DRIVE BOOSTS MOGALE’S RESPONSE TO PROBLEM BUILDINGS

National, provincial and local government officials joined forces in Mogale City for Operation Bring Back to reclaim illegally occupied and abandoned state-owned properties. Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala, MEC Jacob Mamabolo and Mayor Lucky Sele inspected properties in Frederick Cooper and Lewisham, issuing 30-day eviction notices to unlawful occupants. The initiative coincides with the municipality's new Draft Problem Buildings By-law, aimed at strengthening legal mechanisms to rehabilitate neglected urban spaces.

Water supply recovery update

Rand Water is now supplying adequate volumes to Mogale City’s network following recent interruptions, but full recovery is taking longer than expected as depleted reservoirs refill. Residents with water are urged to use it sparingly; some areas such as Azaadville and Dan Pienaarville have been restored, while higher-lying parts of Kenmare and Munsieville may still experience interruptions.

Mogale City, SALGA, the IEC and the Department of Health marked Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes to renovating Mandisa Shiceka School of Specialisation in Kagiso, installing classroom doors and painting.
