The City of Tshwane recently conducted a joint compliance operation at Willows Crossing Shopping Centre on 20 August 2026, bringing together officials from the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD), the Health Department and the Emergency Services Department. The integrated operation formed part of the City's ongoing efforts to enforce municipal by-laws, safeguard public health and promote compliance with safety regulations.
The City takes the violation of safety and health regulations seriously. Non-compliance can result in fines or, in severe cases, the closure of a business. Restaurants including Texican, Buffelsfontein, Pedros and Romans were among the businesses found to be non-compliant during the enforcement operation.
Violations included expired or non-compliant certificates, the absence of required gas licences, no approved building plans from the City and failure to obtain a Certificate of Acceptability (COA).
The City of Tshwane maintains a zero tolerance approach towards businesses that fail to comply with applicable laws and regulations. The City remains committed to protecting public health and enhancing community safety. Similar joint operations will continue across all regions of Tshwane to ensure sustained compliance and to reinforce the message that public safety is a shared responsibility.
