Midvaal Local Municipality continues to make significant progress through its ongoing War on Potholes campaign, actively working to build safer and more reliable roads for residents across the municipality.
During the month of July, municipal road maintenance teams repaired 2,597 potholes, maintaining an impressive weekly pothole closure rate of between 89% and 93% of all identified potholes.
The Municipality’s Water Section also played a critical supporting role by repairing all identified water-related potholes, with a total of 430 potholes successfully repaired.
Our grading teams continued to improve the Municipality’s gravel road network by regravelling more than 19 kilometres of roads.
In addition, road marking teams continued enhancing road safety and the overall appearance of Midvaal’s streets through the repainting of stop signs, pedestrian crossings and speed humps.
Following extensive road failures that compromised sections of Boundary Road, rehabilitation works were undertaken to restore the structural integrity of the affected area.
The project is now substantially complete, with only the painting of the centre line remaining before completion.
Another major infrastructure project was the successful completion of rehabilitation works on Corrie Pypers Road in Golf Park.
During assessments, our team found the road to be highly saturated and requiring remedial work.
The rehabilitation has now been completed, and the road has been reopened to traffic.
Midvaal will continue to invest in the maintenance and upgrades of its road infrastructure to ensure a safe and reliable road network.
