The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Speed Control Unit has intensified its speed enforcement operations across Tshwane as part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety.
The operations are being conducted in key areas, including school zones, residential areas and high-risk road corridors, where excessive speeding can pose a serious threat to pedestrians and other road users. TMPD officers are closely monitoring motorists to ensure compliance with prescribed speed limits.
To strengthen enforcement efforts, officers use state-of-the-art mobile laser speed detection equipment. Precision technology enables officers to accurately monitor vehicle speeds and identify motorists who exceed the applicable speed limits in designated areas.
Motorists found exceeding the prescribed speed limits may be issued formal administrative notices and held accountable in accordance with National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996). These enforcement measures form part of the TMPD's broader commitment to promoting responsible driving and improving road safety throughout Tshwane.
