Water supply recovery update

In short

Mogale City reports that Rand Water is now supplying adequate volumes to the city's network following earlier interruptions. Recovery is ongoing across various areas, with normal supply restored to Azaadville, Rietvallei and Dan Pienaarville, while Kenmare and parts of Munsieville still experience interruptions.

Water Services continues to monitor the recovery of the city’s water supply system. We can confirm that Rand Water is now supplying adequate volumes to Mogale City’s network following earlier interruptions.

Although the bulk supply has improved, full recovery of the system is taking longer than expected as reservoirs that were depleted during the maintenance period need time to refill. High water usage during morning and evening peak periods is also slowing the recovery process.

Residents who currently have water are kindly urged to use it sparingly and only for essential needs to help stabilise reservoir levels and support the restoration of supply to all affected areas.

Area updates

Kagiso and Swaneville

The system is recovering well and reservoir levels continue to improve. High demand during peak hours resulted in lower pressure in some higher-lying areas, while lower-lying areas retained supply. Full recovery is expected as reservoir levels increase.

Munsieville

Lower-lying areas currently have water, but ongoing consumption is slowing reservoir recovery. If levels do not improve, controlled throttling may be implemented to allow reservoirs to recover and maintain network pressure.

Kenmare

The Kenmare system which supplies Krugersdorp North, the CBD and surrounding areas, is still recovering. Water is not yet being pumped to the tower as the sump remains below operating level. Lower-lying areas may have supply, while higher-lying areas continue to experience interruptions.

Azaadville, Rietvallei 2 and 3

The system has recovered and normal water supply has been restored.

Dan Pienaarville

The system has recovered, and water supply has been restored to Dan Pienaarville, Pinehaven, Oaktree and surrounding areas.

Rangeview

The Rangeview system, which supplies Featherbrooke and parts of Muldersdrift and Ruimsig, is recovering steadily. Most areas should have water, although some residents may still experience reduced pressure while the system stabilises.

Water Services continues to monitor reservoir levels and work closely with Rand Water to restore normal water supply across the city.
